Interactive session with Ndi Anambra by Obiano

The Shell Hall of the MUSON Centre, Lagos was filled to capacity, as Governor Willie Obiano yesterday held an interactive session with Ndi Anambra in Lagos State.
Kenechukwu Ofomah who is in Lagos reports that the event tagged “an evening with Chief Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra State” was well attended by Lagos Branch Leaders of various Town Unions in the state, Renowned Industrialists, Business tycoons and distinguished personalities in public and private sector service who are from Anambra. It featured a lengthy brief by the Governor on the Developmental Strides of his administration in the past one year and eleven months, while critical stake holders had the opportunity to ask questions on some grey areas of the state governance. Presenting his mid-term scorecard titled “taking possession of our tomorrow”,

Governor Obiano who said his administration upon inception, adopted the vision to make the state the first choice investment destination and a hub for industrialization and commercial activities, noted that less than two years after, the dream is almost fully realized. This he noted, his administration was able to achieve through his efforts in the area of security that has rid the state of armed robbers and kidnappers and opened the door for investors to come, as well as the setting up of the ANSIPPA, a one-stop shop for investment activities in the state. According to him, the idea behind his administration’s active involvement of private sector in the pursuit of his four key development pillars, is in recognition of the critical role it plays in driving the economy of contemporary nations and in swift response to the state’s dwindling revenue from FARC due to fall in oil prices.
The Governor who emphasized that there is so much that the state can achieve with the abundant human and material resources with which God has blessed her, passionately appealed to Ndi Anambra in the Diaspora to think home and assist government in growing the economy of the state, assuring them of security and maximum dividend for their investments. Earlier in an opening remark, the State Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke said the forum was designed to provide the opportunity for the Governor to give account of what he has done so far with the mandate given to him by Ndi Anambra in keeping with his administration’s belief in active involvement of the people in the process of governance.
For a former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Governor Obiano has through his numerous developmental strides, shown a clear vision for the development of the state and the strategy with which to achieve the vision and what is left is for Ndi Anambra to rally round him to enable him realize his lofty ambitions for the state. In their separate remarks, the Vice-President of Ndigbo in Lagos, Mr Charles Odunukwe and the President, Anambra State Women Association in Lagos, Dr Nkiru Ifekwem said due to the Governor’s excellent performance, they are now proud to be identified as Ndi Anambra anywhere they are.
