The Anambra State Ministry of Health in collaboration with SuNMap and Malaria Consortium  organized an 8 day seminar on combating malaria and other diseases. This event was given the usual attention that Anambra State Government gives to all health related issues as witnessed by the presence of the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, Commissioner for Health,Dr Joe Akabuike, Hon. Nnamdi Okafor (Chairman State House Committee on Health). Also present was Mr Edward Idenu representing Country Director, Malaria Consortium.

The Anambra State Government has been consistent in fighting malaria by distributing mosquito nets to families within the state and will soon commence fumigation of streets to eradicate mosquitoes, which are the primary carriers of malaria parasite.
To supplement existing malaria control activities in the state , this project will  scale up and expand integrated case management of malaria and other diseases. To achieve this goal, the project will hinge on four key strategies: (1) increase access to integrated community case management (iCCM) services and commodities, (2) improve performance of community-owned resource persons (CORPs), and (3) strengthen links between iCCM services and communities to increase demand .

Malaria Consortium  is committed to tackling the large number of malaria cases and deaths in the country. Working in partnership with the Ministry of Health and other partners, they lead and support three major malaria control initiatives in the country: Support to the National Malaria Control Programme (SuNMaP); NetWorks and MAPS. their areas of focus include:
