Breaking : Victor Umeh Leaves DSS Custody after Attempt by PDP to get him Arrested.

By  Emeka A. Udogwu

Chief Sir Victor Umeh, the APGA Senatorial Candidate in the rescheduled Anambra Central Senatorial Elections was yesterday whisked away to Abuja earlier today by the Department of State Security (DSS).

Chief Umeh's sudden gestapo-like arrest is the turning point in the unfolding drama that has trailed the contentious Anambra Central Senatorial election that has been scheduled and rescheduled in the past couple of weeks.

Until his arrest, Chief Umeh had looked unstoppable by a rash of aspirants among whom is the thickly rumoured entry of former governor Peter Obi.

Umeh's arrest has all the makings of a high-level political witch-hunt, calculated to halt his imminent victory as the Senator representing Anambra Central in the nation's upper legislative chamber.

The news of his arrest generated much provocation from the people of Anambra Central that there were fears of civil unrest if he was not released immediately.

People were seen gathering into the wee hours of the night mobilising to storm all quarters to ensure that Ohamadike, as Umeh is fondly called is released.

On hearing the news of his release, Valentine Obilasi, one of the agitated residents of Awka said, "Obi has truly lost it. How come he couldn't figure this thing out? It's so clear that any open persecution of Ohamadike would work in his favour. I have always said that we over rate Obi. This is a second proof of his humanity. He's not the demi god we assume he is afteral".

Presently, there's jubilation all over the State as the Umeh makes his way home while the people feel disappointed that the much revered governor of the state, Peter Obi could stoop so low.

Umeh's victory seemed a fait-accompli ‎from the swirl of endorsements he has garnered from opinion leaders across the zone who see in him the final emergence of an astute representative in the nation's senate.
