Gov Obiano: Socio-Economic Development By Creation Of Access To Agro Communities


 Governor Willie Obiano says the attention his government is giving to Agrarian Communities of the state is to chart a new cause for the socio-economic development of the state.
Governor Obiano was speaking when he received Ayamelum Leaders of Thought, Professionals and Political Stakeholders in the Council Area at the governor's Lodge, Amawbia.
Governor Obiano who described Agriculture as the way to go in the face of dwindling oil fortunes, said his government had keyed into the sector even before the fall in its bid to diversify the state economy and as a result, the state is taking the lead in Agriculture.
He said as part of efforts to significantly improve food production in the state and ensure that farmers get maximum dividends for their ventures, government is creating access to the Agro communities and providing physical infrastructure and other basic amenities for the people.
The governor said these investments by his administration will yield the required boost in the state agric sector which will in turn boost the Gross Domestic Product, GDP of the state and assured that his government will sustain its support towards the sector.
Earlier in an address, the Chairman, Ayamelum Leaders of Thought, Rev Fr. Ben Okwu- Eboh explained that the visit was to commend the governor for what he is doing in transforming the State, to express their solidarity with him and to bring to his notice some issues of concern to them bordering on their welfare.
In his remarks, the traditional ruler of Umueje Community, Igwe Elias Nneli who regretted that Ayamelum council area had been neglected by past administrations in the state, said the numerous agro-investments that the present administration had attracted in the Council Area has the capacity to engender a turnaround in the development of the area.
In a vote of thanks, the Member representing Ayamelum Constituency in the State Assembly, Mr Uche Okafor hailed the Governor's will to venture into developing the Agriculture sector and said at the pace the state is moving, it is on course towards achieving food sufficiency and generating surplus for export.
