Gov Obiano Honours Medalists, Vows To Make Sports Wealth Creating

The State government has rewarded Anambra indigenes who won medals in the just-concluded Paralympics games in Rio di Janerio, Brazil.

 

The Medalists were Ifeyinwa Ugwumba who won Gold in Javelin and was given the sum of 1million naira and automatic employment in the State Civil Service and Njideka Iyiazi with a bronze medal in discourse who was equally given 1 million naira and promotion in the Service.
At the event, the National Coach of the Paralympics Team, Mr Patrick Anaeto who is also from the state and the Local Coach of the athletes, were also presented with the sum of #500, 000 apiece.






Speaking at the event, Governor Obiano said his administration is revolutionizing the Sports Sector to make it a gainful wealth creating avenue for Ndi Anambra.
He noted that his administration has developed a robust programme for the improvement of welfare of persons with disabilities which it has commenced already, adding that through the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFEI program of his wife, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu, a lot has been achieved for the Orphans and vulnerable children in the State.
Governor Obiano explained that the decision to reward the Medalists is to encourage more exploits by Ndi Anambra that will bring honor to the state.
Earlier the Commissioner for Youths Entrepreneurship and Sports Development, Bar Uju Nworgu acknowledged that the State is now winning laurels in various national and international sporting competitions because of the support the present administration is giving the sector.
