Obiano assures disengaged Anambra workers in Abia on reinstatement.

Governor Willie Obiano has promised to intervene in the case of Anambra indigenes that were disengaged from Abia State Civil Service.

He made the promise when he received some members of the Association of Anambra State Development Unions, Aba in Abia State at the Governor’s Lodge, Awka Sunday.

Governor Obiano, who said the welfare of all Anambra indigenes everywhere remains a priority to his administration, pointed out that it is unlawful to disengage Anambra citizens for no reasons from any civil service in the country more so when the state in question is in the South East.

While querying the rationale behind the action by former governor of the state, Dr Theodore Orji, Obiano said he will liaise with the incumbent Abia State Governor, Chief Okezie Ikpeazu, to see how they can be reabsorbed into the Abia State Civil Service.

He commended the association for what it is doing in galvanising all Anambra citizens in Abia State towards supporting the ongoing transformation in their home state and assured that his government will assist them to do more.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Communication’s Strategy, Tony Nnachetta, who acknowledged that all Anambrans all over, are beginning to heed the call to join hands with government to build a prosperous Anambra State, said the visit by the association is another milestone in the present administration’s efforts to garner the necessary clout for the task ahead.

In an address, President General of the association, Dr Simon Okolo, lauded the numerous policies and programmes of the Obiano administration which according to him, has impacted positively on the lives of the people and sought the state government’s assistance towards the activities of the association especially their upcoming Anambra Day Celebration.

Also, Chairman, Advisory Board of the Association, Chief Anthony Enukeme, said that as Anambrans living in Aba, they are now proud to rear their heads up due to the exemplary performance of the state government and urged Governor Obiano not to relent in his commitment to make Anambra a role model state in the country.
