Anambra Praised For Efforts Towards Achieving UN Development Goals .



Anambra State has been commended for remaining on course towards achieving the United Nation’s goals on Development.
Speaking at a two day End of the Year Review Meeting and Development of Work Plan for 2017, organized in Awka by the Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners in collaboration with United Nations family, a planning officer in the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Pl
anning, Mr. Bonshima Orlando, said the state has continued to live up to expectations.
Mr. Orlando noted that Anambra State has not relented in fulfilling its responsibilities to the donor agencies and has continued to scale up the tempo of development in all sectors with practical results.
He said the review meeting has enabled the state and donor agencies to identify lapses to be corrected and chart a new course towards building on achievements already recorded.Earlier, the Director, Partnership Coordination Department of the Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners, Mr. Boniface Azi, said the state has a comprehensive Development rolling plan running from 2014 to 2018 comprising the state governments pillars of Development and all the enablers.
The Chief of the UNICEF Enugu field office, Mr. Charles Nzuki, who was represented by Dr. Olufemi Adeyemi, reminded the participants that the Development Partners are not taking over their responsibilities but are only assisting to build capacity for greater productivity.
In his reaction, a participant and Civil Society advocate, Prince Chris Azor, commended the state government for its political will to sustain development strides and maintain prompt payment of counter-part contributions to meet the needs of the people.
Prince Azor emphasized the need for regular review meetings to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of performances.
