Disbursement Of 10bn For Roads Construction Begins In Anambra

The State Government has commenced the disbursement of over ten billion naira for massive road construction in various parts of the state.

Disclosing this while presenting a key note address at a one day mandatory continuing professional development seminar, organized in Awka by the State branch of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, the Commissioner for Road Infrastructure, Road Furniture and Maintenance, Chief Lawrence Chinwuba, said that already four billion naira has been disbursed to contractors while the remaining six billion naira, will be disbursed in the next few weeks.
Chief Chinwuba, who is an Estate Surveyor disclosed that work has commenced on over ninety roads across the state to ensure smooth ride during the Yuletide.
The Commissioner, disclosed that the state government has signed series of Memoranda of Understanding, with various organizations for enhanced development of the state stressing that the ongoing street light project in various parts of the state is aimed at providing adequate security of lives and property in addition to improving the aesthetics of the state.
In his speech, the Registrar of the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Council of Nigeria, Mr Ifeanyi Uzonwanne, decried the increasing number of nonprofessionals in the body, adding that the council has adopted stringent measures to check the ugly trend.
In a remark, the State Chairman of the Institution, Mr Justin Okaro disclosed that the Nigerian Institution of Estate-surveyors and Valuers, places high premium on training and development of its members.
