Gov Obiano Inspects Work On Oye Olisa-Ogidi-Umuoji Road


Governor Willie Obiano says his administration is taking full advantage of the dry season to achieve the much road projects it can across the state.
Governor Obiano stated this when he inspected ongoing construction of 6.5kilometer Oye Olisa-Ogidi-Umuoji Road embarked on by his administration.
Our man at the government House Kenechukwu Ofomah observed that two kilometers of asphalt has been achieved on the road while construction of drainage was ongoing on the remaining length.
Governor Obiano who spoke after he inspected the project, said the road was awarded to one of the best contractors due to its strategic nature and the heavy traffic it is expected to carry when completed.
The governor expressed satisfaction at the quality of work already done and said road markings and installation of streetlights will soon commence on the length already asphalted.
He appealed to residents whose structures were affected by the construction work to support the project as it is for their overall benefit.
The traditional ruler of the Community, Igwe Patrick Uzonyido acknowledged that the Obiano administration has in visible terms shown commitment towards the welfare of Ndi Ogidi and assured him that the people are solidly behind him.
For a stakeholder in the Community, Chief Sam Anyanwutaku, the way Governor Obiano is effectively managing the resources of the State to meet his responsibilities in the face of the present economic recession, is highly commendable and it is important that Ndi Anambra continue to support him to sustain the tempo of development in the state.
Governor Obiano also inspected reconstruction work along 3kilometer Ifite road to UNIZIK gate where heavy duty construction equipment were seen doing drainages and excavation work.
Addressing students and residents of the Ifite area, Governor Obiano expressed his administration's resolve to permanently address the incessant collapse of the ever busy road by doing a quality work on the road.
On his part, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Project Monitoring and Compliance, Engr Emeka Okoye who noted that the Ifite road is a crucial one due to the population that lives around the area, said they are committed to effectively monitor and supervise the project to ensure that it is executed according to specifications.
The President of the Students Union Government of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Comrade Hillary Nwangwu thanked the governor for coming to their rescue, adding that by reconstructing the road, he has shown that the he has the interest of the students at heart.
