Need For Sustainability Of Obiano’s Economic Blueprint Emphasized

The call for the sustainability of Governor Willie Obiano's administrative style and economic blueprint formed the crux of his 3rd year in Office Anniversary Lecture held yesterday.
Government House correspondent reports that the lecture delivered by former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, pulled a robust audience of key stakeholders in the state including traditional and religious leaders, Community heads and the business class.
Also in attendance were Politicians of both APGA extraction and opposition parties, notable of whom were former Senate President and Chairman, Electoral Reforms Committee, Senator Ken Nnamani, Member representing Anambra North in the National Assembly, Senator Stella Oduah, former Presidential Adviser on Inter-Party Parties Affairs, Senator Ben Ndi Obi, as well as National and State Legislators.
In the lecture entitled "Anambra, an emerging start-up state and our collective challenge", Professor Soludo said Anambra has through the efforts of its leaders since the return of democracy in 1999, kick started a steady march towards becoming a model state in the country and pointed out that what is needed presently is the right attitude and drive on the part of the citizenry to accelerate the state's achievements for the economic breakthrough of the 21st Century.
He revealed that since 1999, no regime has seen such political and economic turbulence as experienced in the past three years in the country, adding that in the context of the prevailing economic realities, Governor Obiano has performed creditably in the State governance.
The former CBN governor who harped on the need for the state to develop long-term plans that will guide the development initiative of successive administrations in the State, said in view of his outstanding performance, Ndi Anambra should give him a second chance to complete what he started in transforming the State.
In a welcome speech, Governor Obiano while thanking Ndi Anambra for their support to his administration in the past three years, stressed that in the period he had lasted in office, what he has done is to work in line with his economic blueprint to transform all sectors of the State economy.
Describing the past three years as both interesting and challenging, the governor said his administration has set in motion the transformation process but require another term to see it to fruition, soliciting the continued support of the people towards his efforts to build a prosperous Anambra State.
Also speaking, former Senate President, Senator Nnamani who acknowledged that Anambra presents a shining example of what other states of the Federation should aspire to be, hailed Governor Obiano's vision at diversifying the state's economy especially through Agriculture.
In their separate remarks, the Special Adviser to the governor on Agriculture, Tourism, Training, Methodology and State Emergency, Venerable Amechi Okwuosa and a former Chairman of Orumba North Council Area, Barrister John Onyeakpa while congratulating the governor on his three years in office, said Anambra under the leadership of governor Obiano has achieved so much that he is being compared with his contemporaries of eight years standing.
Performances by a choral group and the NYSC cultural troupe added colour to the event.
